Amie Hammer (Cars 3) has signed on to the cast of Sorry to Bother You, the upcoming debut of writer-director Boots Riley, which has begun shooting this month in Oakland, California.
Deadline reports that the film follows “a black telemarketer with self-esteem issues who discovers a magical key to business success, propelling him to the upper echelons of the hierarchy just as his activist comrades are rising up against unjust labor practices. When he uncovers the macabre secret of his corporate overlords, he must decide whether to stand up or sell out.”
Hammer joins a cast that also includes Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) and Lakeith Stanfield (War Machine). Fruitvale Station’s Nina Yang Bongiovi and Forest Whitaker are serving as executive producers.
