Michael Mando confirms his villain character in Spider-Man: Homecoming

June 29, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Michael Mando has confirmed the role he will be playing in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Mando, who has been given a juicer role on the latest season of Better Call Saul as the semi-reluctant Hector Salamanca lackey Nacho, has now confirmed that he will be play classic Spider-Man villain Scorpion in the movie.

Posting on Instagram, the actor said, ““Stiinggg!!! Over the moon to be playing my favorite Super Villain THE SCORPION!!! Heading to premiere tonight to cause some ruckus.”

For those that aren’t familiar with the character, Scorpion is mostly known as the alter-ego of Mac Gargan – first appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #19 in 1964. Subject to a lab experiment, Gargan was enthused with scorpion DNA giving him superhuman reflexes.

With the film so close to release, more and more secrets are bound to come out, and while Mando is unlikely to have too big a role in the movie given the spotlight afforded to Michael Keaton’s Vulture, it will certainly be interesting to see his interpretation of the villain.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Spider-Man: Homecoming sees Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei reprising their roles from Captain America: Civil War as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Aunt May, alongside Marvel veterans Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Chris Evans as Captain America. New additions to the cast include Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Bokeem Woodbine, Tyne Daly, Michael Barbieri, Abraham Attah, Hannibal Buress, Kenneth Choi, Angourie Rice, Michael Chernus, Michael Mando, Logan Marshall-Green and Jennifer Connelly.
