Actress Lily James has joined the cast of the sequel to Mamma Mia.
Universal’s Mamma Mia sequel entitled Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is set to see Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, and Amanda Seyfried return with Ol Parker writing and directing the film.
The sequel movie will see events going backwards and forwards in time, showing how past relationships resonate with those of the present. James has been cast in the picture as ‘Young Donna’.
James has recently been seen in Edgar Wright’s crime caper Baby Driver after being the lead in Disney’s Cinderella. You can also see James in this year’s likely awards contender Darkest Hour – a biopic about Winston Churchill starring Gary Oldman.
The sequel to Mamma Mia will be produced by Littlestar’s Judy Craymer and Playtone’s Gary Goetzman, as they did with the original movie.
Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will once again be providing the music and lyrics, with the film opening on July 20, 2018.
