According to Deadline, Akiva Goldsman (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Dark Tower) has signed on to produce an adaptation of the Tom Clancy bestseller Rainbow Six as part of his new deal with Paramount Pictures.
The site reports that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has held talks with the studio about taking on the role of John Clark, a former Navy SEAL who is named head of Rainbow Six, an international counter-terrorism task form. Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) are currently penning the script, and the plan is that should Rainbow Six prove a success, it would then be followed with an adaptation of the Clark origin story novel Without Remorse.
The character of John Clark originated in Clancy’s Jack Ryan novels, and his twice appeared on the big screen before, with Willem Dafoe taking on the role in Clear and Present Danger and Liev Schreiber starring in The Sum of All Fears.
