Catfish directors sign on for Mega Man movie

It looks like the iconic video game franchise Mega Man is finally set to hit the big screen, with THR reporting that Catfish directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are in final negotiations to write and direct a movie adaptation.

Mega Man launched in 1987 and follows an android called Rock, who is created as a lab assistant by the scientist Dr. Light. When Dr. Light is betrayed by his colleague Dr. Wily, Rock volunteers to be upgraded into a combat mode in order to save mankind from Dr. Wily and his horde of robotic threats.

The Mega Man franchise has spawned over 50 games, selling in excess of 30 million copies worldwide, as well as launching a host of aniamted series, comic books and manga.
