Annabelle: Creation is set to win its opening box office weekend.
In what looks to be yet another slow weekend at the US box office this summer, things could do with a little rejuvenation.
While Annabelle: Creation won’t be enough to salvage the state of affairs, it’s certainly going to have enough to be victorious upon its debut.
The fourth instalment in The Conjuring Universe is projected to pick up about $25 million this weekend, with some tracking even suggesting that $30 million is on the table.
Regardless, considering it’s working off a measly $15 million budget, the horror entry should become quite profitable.
Although it should have no problems claiming the top spot this weekend, it is looking like it won’t match the opening of its predecessor, Annabelle, which brought in $37.1 million, or either of The Conjuring movies, which claimed around $40 million each.
It will be more than enough to beat The Dark Tower on its second weekend, and The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, a film that is also opening this weekend.
