Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada’s comic book series Painkiller Jane is heading to the big screen, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that the Soska Sisters have signed on to direct a big screen version of the title for Paperfilms.
Painkiller Jane “centers on the titular heroine, a cop, who, along with with her best friend and partner, goes undercover into an interconnected drug ring. When her identity is exposed, Jane is tortured, which leaves her with preternatural regenerating abilities and a high tolerance for pain.”
The Soska twins – Jen and Sylvia – are the filmmaking duo behind Dead Hooker in a Trunk and American Mary, and have two WWE Studios projects incoming in Vendetta and See No Evil 2.
Painkiller Jane began its run in 1995 at Event Comics and has twice been adapted for the small screen, with Emmanuelle Vaugier starring in a 2005 TV movie, which was followed by a series in 2007 starring Kristanna Loken.
