Spider-Man: Homecoming screenwriters returning for sequel

September 1, 2017 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Spider-Man: Homecoming screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are in final negotiations with Marvel and Sony to return to pen the script for the wall-crawler’s second solo movie.

The duo, who have also contributed to The LEGO Batman Movie and next year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, will reunite with director Jon Watts, who signed on to the sequel back in July.

The as-yet-untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will launch Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it opens in July 2019, and will pick up Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) story as he returns for his junior year at Midtown High School following the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4.
