Venom production delayed to late October

September 11, 2017 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Sony has pushed back production on its Tom Hardy-headlined Venom movie, with Omega Underground reporting that filming on the non-MCU Spider-Man spinoff will get underway in Atlanta on October 23rd. Cameras had originally been set to roll on September 1st.

The Venom movie is being directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), and will see Hardy taking on the role of Eddie Brock, with Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) also attached and rumoured to be portraying Cletus Kasady, a.k.a. Carnage.

Details on the project are scarce, but we do know that Spider-Man won’t appear, but She-Venom might, and it is expected to take its inspiration from the Ultimate comic book universe incarnation of the character, where the symbiote is created as a biosuit, rather than being an alien life form.

Venom is set for release on October 5th 2018.
