Nicolas Cage is all set for his latest action role, starring as a big-game hunter in Primal.
Primal was unveiled this Tuesday at the Toronto Film Festival and will see Nicolas Cage starring in the independent action movie. Production is set to get under way on October 23 in Puerto Rico.
Primal is the first outing for Wonderfilm Media which was launched by by Kirk Shaw, Daniel Grodnik, Jeff Bowler, and Bret Saxon. The production company is based out of Vancouver and Beverly Hills.
The film will be directed by Nick Powell, a veteran from the world of stunt coordination. Powell has credits to his name that include The Bourne Identity, X-Men: Last Stand, and Resident Evil.
Primal’s screenplay has been written by Richard Leder. Variety’s synopsis for the film reads:
“[Primal] centres on a big-game hunter for zoos who has booked passage on a Greek shipping freighter with a fresh haul of exotic and deadly animals from the Amazon, including a rare white Jaguar — along with a political assassin being extradited to the U.S in secret. Two days into the journey, the assassin escapes and releases the captive animals, throwing the ship into chaos.”
