It was only announced a few months ago, but the Neil Marshall directed Hellboy reboot is moving ahead at a rapid pace. And last night the official Lionsgate Twitter account released our first look at David Harbour as Anung un Rama. Check it out here.
This is news that could spark some conspiracy theories about the character’s parentage, but it has been revealed that Billie Lourd – the daughter of the late Carrie Fisher – auditioned for the role of Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “J.J. Abrams called me to come in for Star Wars because he couldn’t find someone for the lead,” Lourd told Ellen. “He ended up finding Daisy Ridley who’s an incredible actress, so talented. But I went in and he ended up giving me this tiny role with a couple of lines. I was super excited. I didn’t know what was going to happen and ended up going and fell in love with it.” Read more here.
Ben Affleck’s Batman script has been thrown out of the window, and the former El Mayimbe has said his draft took inspiration from David Fincher’s The Game. The 1997 film is one of David Fincher’s least appreciated movies, and saw Michael Douglas being manipulated after deciding to join a high-stakes game that blurs the line between reality and fantasy. Marvel’s visual development supervisor Andy Park has took to Instagram to share some concept art from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 featuring an alternative, more mysterious look for Zoe Saldana’s Gamora. Check it out here.
After being announced in February, it looks like the John Carpenter produced Halloween reboot is on track for release in October next year. Director David Gordon Green confirmed at the Toronto International Film Festival that the script is now complete and they are aiming to begin principal photography in the fall. Furthermore, Carpenter has apparently given notes on the script, “digs it”, and remains keen on composing the score. Read more here.
Ahead of its release next month, the first trailer has debuted for the upcoming comedy horror Tragedy Girls. Directed by Tyler MacIntyre, the film stars Alexandra Shipp and Brianna Hildebrand as two social psychopaths, alongside Josh Hutcherson, Craig Robinson, Kevin Durand, and Jack Quaid.
