Synopsis for the 2017 Doctor Who Christmas Special revealed

September 18, 2017 by George Chrysostomou

As we hit the Autumn, we edge ever closer to Winter and the traditional Christmas episode of Doctor Who, and the much-anticipated final outing of Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor.

Not only will the episode welcome the newest lead for the show, in the form of Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor, but will also include the return of the Doctor that started it all, portrayed by David Bradley, as a stand in for the late William Hartnell.

WeGotThisCovered discovered the synopsis of the Christmas Special attached to a pre-order of the Blu-ray for the episode, which reads:

“Two Doctors stranded in a forbidding snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. And a British army captain seemingly destined to die in the First World War, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story. This is the magical last chapter in the Twelfth Doctor’s epic adventure. He must face his past to decide his future. And the Doctor will realise the resilience of humanity, discovering hope in his darkest frozen moment. It’s the end of an era. But the Doctor’s journey is only just beginning.”

Starring Peter Capaldi, David Bradley, Mark Gatiss and the return of Pearl Mackie, this episode is written, for the last time, by Steven Moffat, and will air on BBC One and BBC America on December 25th.
