It looks like Hollywood is set to take another crack at a reboot of the 80s sci-fi adventure Flight of the Navigator, with THR reporting that Joe Henderson, showrunner of Fox’s Lucifer, has signed on to pen the script for Lionsgate.
The 1986 movie, directed by Randal Kleiser (Grease), revolved around a 12-year-old boy who is abducted by a UFO, reappearing at exactly the same age eight years later, with no memories of his experiences. When NASA spots a connection between the boy and a recovered UFO, the youngster escapes in the ship and sets off to reunite with his family and unravel the mystery.
In 2009, Disney attempted to remake the film and in 2012 Colin Trevorrow and his writing partner Derek Connolly were brought in to write a script, although the project ultimately failed to get off the ground.
