Matt Damon and Ben Affleck producing period detective thriller The Shadows

October 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Jennifer Todd of Pearl Street Films are teaming with Paramount Pictures to tell the story of America’s first detectives with The Shadows, a feature film scripted by Chris Bremner.

The Shadows is based upon Matthew Pearl’s Boston Globe Magazine article ‘Into the Shadows’, which detailed the States first undercover officers, a task force known as ‘The Shadows’, who were established in Boston in the 1840s. The group revolutionised law enforcement, becoming the first officers to work with criminal informants, wear plain clothes and operate undercover, blurring the lines between right and wrong amidst the xenophobia and hysteria of the nation’s first great immigration wave.

Screenwriter Bremner previously wrote the 2015 Black List script Black Friars, and is currently working on the screenplays for Bad Boys 3 and the Harry Houdini biopic Houdini.
