THR is reporting that Frank Grillo (Wolf Warrior 2), Jamie Bell (Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool), Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers) and James Badge Dale (Only the Brave) have signed on to the cast of the indie thriller Donnybrook.
The film is being written and directed by Tim Sutton for Rumble Films and BackUp Films, and is described as “a backwoods version of Fight Club meets True Romance“, revolving around two men who try to get to the Donnybrook, a legendary backcountry bare-knuckle brawl where the winner gets $100,000.
According to the site, Grillo will play Chainsaw Angus, a murderous drug dealer with serious anger issues, with Bell as Jarhead Earl, a man who wants to help his family by competing in the tournament, Qualley as Delia Angus, Chainsaw’s drug-dealing sister, and Badge Dale as Whalen, a crooked cop with a drug habit.
Production on Donnybrook is set to get underway this coming week in Cincinnati.
