Blumhouse Productions have had a stellar year at the box-office, with Split earning $278m, Get Out amassing $253m, as well as Oscar buzz, and more recently the micro-budgeted Happy Death Day has a to-date gross of $79.1m.
The thing to note alongside this commercial success, is that each of these movies were largely well received by both audiences and critics. As much as anything, the Blumhouse name is becoming intrinsically linked with quality output.
With this in mind, Universal have announced that one of the next films off the conveyor belt will be Truth or Dare, a supernatural thriller which has been given an April 27th 2018 release date.
Truth of Dare will be directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), and star Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) and Tyler Posey (Scream: The TV Series), Violett Beane (The Flash), Nolan Gerard Funk (Dear White People), Hayden Szeto (The Edge of Seventeen) and Sophia Taylor Ali (Grey’s Anatomy).
