Now that New Line’s reboot of National Lampoon’s Vacation is back on track, the comedy sequel-cum-remake is filling out its supporting cast, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that Chris Hemsworth (Thor: The Dark World) and Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses) are both in talks to join the project.
According to the site, Hemsworth will play Stone Crandall, an up-and-coming anchorman and the husband of Audrey Grisworld, who is yet to be cast. Day will appear in a cameo as a river-rafting guide.
The new Vacation will star Ed Helms (The Hangover) as Rusty Grisworld and Christina Applegate (Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues) as his wife, while Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are set to return for cameos as Clark and Ellen Griswold. The movie has been written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Horrible Bosses), who will also make their directorial debut.
