Adventure racer Defunct set to arrive on Xbox One and PS4 this December

November 16, 2017 by Andrew Newton

SOEDESCO have announced that their indie racing adventure title, Defunct, developed by Freshly Squeezed will race on to the Xbox One and Playstation 4 on the 19th December.  This new racer will let players speed across an abandoned Earth and places a focus on speed and gravity.  Watch the gameplay trailer below for a taste of the racing action…

Set on Earth long after all humans have disappeared, Defunct puts players in the role of a broken robot who has accidentally fallen from a giant cargo ship.  The Earth he lands on is in ruins but is populated by robots and some crazy race tracks to speed along as our robot races back to reach his ship before it’s too late.

Fortunately, to help our robot reach his ship he is kitted out with a Gravitize engine which creates a gravity field around him and is his main source of speed.  This can be used when going downhill to give a huge burst of acceleration but the opposite if it is used going uphill.  As well as this unique engine there are different speed boosts such as Enerjuice, that can be picked up and used to go faster.

Defunct features:

  • High speed gameplay with a unique ‘gravitation’ engine.
  • Eleven varied levels taking place through different climates and biomes and full of novel challenges.
  • Unlockable skins for the main character.
  • Unlockable tricks.
  • Compete for the best completion times in time trial mode (which features 5 extra levels).
  • A satisfying combo of speed and jumps.
