Benny and Josh Sadfie are riding the wave of success off the back of the Robert Pattinson crime drama Good Time by signing on to remake Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte cop/convict buddy flick 48 Hours.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that comedian Jerrod Carmichael (NBC’s The Carmichael Show) will co-write the script along with Ronald Bronstein, who also wrote Good Time with Josh Safdie.
The Walter Hill directed 48 Hours was at the forefront of the R-rated buddy movie in the early 80s. It saw Murphy and Nolte play to type as wisecracker and gruff cop, who teamed up to hunt down a pair of cop-killers. The film was a huge hit at the time, grossing $79m at the domestic box-office.
With the recent confirmation of Lethal Weapon 5 it appears that the buddy movie could be making something of a non-ironic comeback. With this in mind, what other properties from the VHS vault would you like to see updated? Surely a Stop or My Mom Will Shoot reboot is on the cards?
