Go behind the scenes of Disney’s unmade Roger Rabbit movie

Before director Robert Zemeckis, animation director Richard Williams and company brought Roger Rabbit to the screen with 1988’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Walt Disney Productions spent two years between 1981 and 1983 attempting to adapt Gary K. Wolf’s novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit?.

During that time, Disney developed test footage under animation director Darrell Van Citters, with Paul Reubens voicing Roger, Russi Taylor as Jessica Rabbit and Peter Renaday as Eddie Valiant.

Thanks to The Thief Archive, we now have an insight into this early attempt at Roger Rabbit, thanks to a behind-the-scenes video which delves into its development. Take a look…
