Bill Murray offers casting suggestions for female Ghostbusters

September 9, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Over the weekend, Bill Murray shared a few thoughts on the reports that Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) is looking to direct an all-female team of Ghostbusters for the long-in-development Ghostbusters 3, stating that it’s a “grande idea” and that he “would watch it.” Now he’s went a step further, offering up some casting suggestions for the female-led reboot…

“Melissa would be a spectacular Ghostbuster,” said Murray, referring to his St. Vincent co-star Melissa McCarthy. “And Kristen Wiig is so funny — God, she’s funny! I like this girl Linda Cardellini a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.”

McCarthy then went on to express her interest, although she denied that she had been approached about a role: “I think that somebody is really trying to do it, but nobody has talked to me about it. Listen, if the people I think are doing it are doing it, I must never question them. [Ghostbusters] would be daunting. That’s taking on a legend, a legendary movie. But I would do anything with those ladies, anything at all.”

Would you like to see Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Linda Cardellini and Emma Stone as an all-female team of Ghostbusters, and if not, who would you cast?
