Last week it was rumoured that a live-action Supergirl TV series is in development, with Arrow and The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti said to be working alongside frequent collaborator Ali Adler and DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns would serve as the creative team in an effort to bring Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El to the small screen.
Well, it is now officially no longer a rumour, with Berlanti confirming the project during a chat with Comic Book Resources at PaleyFest 2014, stating that: “We’re just starting to work on it. We haven’t gone to the networks yet, so. I’ll be happy, very excited to talk about it once we know where its home will be and that kind of stuff, but not at this moment.”
Berlanti’s comments contradict previous reports which suggested that Warner Bros. had already pitched the show to The CW, with the network reportedly opting to pass. So, assuming it’s not yet at the pitching stage, we may yet see Supergirl sharing the same universe as Green Arrow and The Flash.
