This was to be expected, given that production is slated to get underway in the next couple of months, but Warner Bros. has now officially announced that the DC Extended Universe solo movie Shazam is set for release on April 5th 2019.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam sees Zachary Levi as the titular superhero, the alter-ego of a young boy Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who is transformers into the adult superhero by speaking the magic word “Shazam”.
Also attached to the cast are Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Grace Fulton as Mary Marvel, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley and Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

While we now officially know which DCEU movie will follow December’s Aquaman, the studio has also announced that it has vacated its July 27th 2018 release date. That had originally been earmarked for The Flash solo movie, before several director exits, and a retooling as Flashpoint.
No word yet as to when we might now expect Flashpoint, although it is expected to have survived Warner’s DC Films reshuffle and remains a priority for the studio.
