With Sony pushing The Amazing Spider-Man 3 back to 2018, the studio has decided to concentrate on its spin-off features, starting with 2016’s The Sinister Six, followed by an as-yet-unrevealed female-led movie in 2017, as well as a Venom adaptation, which is said to be going by the title Venom Carnage.
Speaking to ComicBookResources, director Alex Kurtzman has offered a brief update on the Venom movie, which he is set to direct from a script by Ed Solomon: “Before last Friday came out, we started kind of roughing out a story. Ed Solomon’s going to be writing it very soon. I can’t tell you too much, but I’m really excited about it.”
Kurtzman then went on to touch upon the thought process that is going in to deciding whcih incarnation of Venom they’ll be using in the movie: “I would not say it’s an easy choice. I would say that there are quite a few things about Venom that are interesting. Venom had several different iterations, and there are several things that are very unique, interesting and specific. And so I think we all want to make sure that we’re making the right choices for a character that’s so beloved.”
