Back in July, some early concept footage for a standalone Deadpool movie from Tim Miller and Blur Studio leaked online, which was met with near-universal praise from fans of the Merc with the Mouth. While it doesn’t quite seem to have convinced 20th Century Fox to give the go-ahead to the long-gestating solo movie just yet, Ryan Reynolds has now spoken about the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the footage, calling it “awe-inspiring”.
“The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, ‘Oh, so we weren’t crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role,’ Reynolds tells Niagara Falls Review (via CBM). “It’s interesting to see the power of the Internet. It’s awe-inspiring, actually. And it’s neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way.”
