Despite earlier reports that Elizabeth Olsen (Godzilla) was in talks for the role, Deadline has revealed that Guy Ritchie has found his Guinevere for his planned King Arthur franchise, with French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) signing on to portray Arthur’s Queen consort in Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.
Berges-Frisbey joins a cast that includes Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam as Arthur and Idris Elba as his mentor Sir Bedivere. The film is planned as the first in a six-part epic, and is said to deal with Arthur’s ascent to the throne of Britain. It is currently set to hit cinemas on July 22nd, 2016 – by which point they’ll hopefully have decided to put a space in the middle of ‘Roundtable’.
