Back in May of last year it was announced that Donald Glover is developing a ten-episode Deadpool animated series for FXX, and speaking to PopCulture to promote the second season of his hit show Atlanta, Glover was asked if he’s feeling any pressure tackling such a fan-favourite character.
“That it’s funny,” he replied. “That one it just seems really easy. There’s not as much to hold sacred, in a weird way. I know people love Deadpool and I know people are big comic book geeks, but it’s not the same as like Lando or Atlanta, where you have a whole city on your back. Deadpool is very aware of himself, so, I don’t have to live up to anything. So it’s been actually, quite easy.”
Glover, who will soon be seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story as Lando Calrissian, is writing the Deadpool animated series with his brother Stephen, and FX CEO John Landgraf has recently confirmed that it will “be distinctly different from the movies” with “a different tone and editorial voice.”

At present, there’s been no word as to when we can expect the animated series, but we do know the Merc with a Mouth will be back on the big screen this May with the release of Deadpool 2. Watch the latest trailer here.
