Despite the fact that last year’s movie failed to impress at the box office, it seems that hasn’t altered plans for The Dark Tower TV series (well, save for the fact it’s now a complete reboot, according to author Stephen King).
We’ve heard very little about the show since the release of the movie, but it seems it has now found a home, with Deadline reporting that it has been picked up by Amazon and is part of the streaming service’s genre push alongside The Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, Ringworld, Lazarus and Snow Crash.

The last we heard about the Dark Tower series was back in August, when it was announced that The Walking Dead executive producer Glen Mazzara had become attached as showrunner.
The original plan for the TV series was to adapt King’s novel Wizard and Glass, detailing how Roland became the Gunslinger, with a younger actor taking on the role and Idris Elba appearing as an older Roland as part of a framing device.
