Rumoured details on Spider-Man’s appearance in the Venom movie

February 24, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Despite the fact that Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has made it very clear that Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff movies will have no connection with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rumours continue to persist that Sony sees things differently.

Over the past couple of months, we’ve heard reports that Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland will make a cameo in the Tom Hardy-headlined Venom movie, either as Spider-Man or Peter Parker, and now Screen Rant claims to have the inside scoop on his involvement.

According to the site, a scene was shot inside an Atlanta building doubling as the headquarters of the Life Foundation organisation, which saw Riz Ahmed’s character Carlton Drake leading a field trip of students, and that this is where Peter Parker could show up. That’s really all we have to go on, and it’s certainly far from confirmation that Tom Holland will be making an appearance in the film, so take this with a pinch of salt for the time being.

As we saw in the trailer Spider-Man doesn’t seem to be involved in the origin of Venom as he is in the comic books, and while Spidey plays a prominent role in Venom: Lethal Protector (the comic arc which is serving as inspiration for the film’s story) it doesn’t seem like that is going to be the case here either. With that in mind, is there really much point in a Peter Parker cameo? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Venom is set for release on October 5th 2018 and features a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott and Scott Haze.
