Earlier this month it was reported that Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion) was joining Ghost House Pictures’ horror remake The Grudge, and now comes word from Variety that the actress is being joined by Demian Bichir (A Better Life) and John Cho (Star Trek Beyond).
The film, a new take on the 2004 movie (which was itself based upon the 2002 Japanese horror Ju-on: The Grudge) is being written and directed by Nicolas Pesce (The Eyes of My Mother), with Ghost House’s Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert producing.
“We are so excited about this new adaptation,” said Raimi. “We went back to the original source material to deliver a relentless supernatural thrill ride that explores the horrors of American suburbia.”
The original remake of The Grudge starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, and grossed almost $190 million back in 2004. It was followed by two sequels in 2006 and 2009.
