Sam Claflin, Noel Clarke, Timothy Spall and Hugh Bonneville are The Corrupted

Variety is repiorting that Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games), Noel Clarke (Mute), Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner) and Hugh Bonneville (Paddington) are set to star in the British crime thriller The Corrupted.

The film, which is shooting now in the UK under director Ron Scalpello (My Name Is Lenny) from a script by Nick Moorcroft (Urban Hymn), also features a cast that includes David Hayman (Taboo), Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Joe Claflin (Grantchester), Sam Otto (The State) and Akbar Kurtha (24).

The Corrupted takes place ahead of the London 2012 Olympics and sees Claflin as Liam, “an ex-con trying to win back the love and trust of his family. He has lost everything at the hands of a local crime syndicate run by Clifford Cullen (Spall), who has high-level connections in politics, finance and the police force. Liam’s drive for redemption sees him caught up in a web of conspiracy, crime, and corruption.”

“We have assembled a great cast of amazing actors, and Nick Moorcroft’s script dramatically updates the British crime thriller with a contemporary story that examines the tension between globalized economies and local communities,” said director Scalpello.
