Fox’s Gambit movie now looking to start shooting in June

March 30, 2018 by Gary Collinson

20th Century Fox’s Gambit movie suffered its latest setback in a seemingly endless series of setbacks in January when it was announced that director Gore Verbinski (The Lone Ranger) had followed in the footsteps of both Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) by exiting the project.

As a result, Fox pushed back the planned March production start date for the X-Men spinoff, as well as its latest release date for February 14th 2019.

The film, which – if it ever gets made – will star Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau, is now scheduled to arrive on June 7th 2019, and according to Omega Underground, Fox is now looking to get cameras rolling on June 19th in New Orleans.

If Fox is confident enough to set a start date, then one would have to assume the studio also has a new director on board for the film. Although whether they’ll still be on board come June in anyone’s guess…

If Gambit does hit cinemas in 2019, it’ll be joined by two more X-Men projects in X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants, both of which were originally slated to arrive this year before being pushed back.
