The New Nintendo 3DS has just gone on sale in Japan and is already bringing in some staggering numbers. The console, which comes in both a regular and XL model, has sold more than 230,000 units within two days of being on sale.
The New 3DS XL was more popular, according to Famitsu, selling 172,332 units against the comparatively small number the regular sized version sold – 61,151. One reason the larger model sold more however is likely due to the fact that Nintendo decided to bundle the console with 3DS-exclusive Monster Hunter 4G. Monster Hunter 4G itself is doing very well also, having sold 1.6 million copies – a hugely impressive number in such a small space of time.
The New Nintendo 3DS is set to arrive in Australia and New Zealand in November, with release dates for the US, UK and Europe still yet to be confirmed.
The New 3DS range includes built in NFC-functionality for use with amiibo, an improved and larger screen and the addition of a C-stick, amongst other things.
