The classic Harvey Comics character Richie Rich is heading to Netflix, with the streaming giant adding to its original programming with a half-hour live-action comedy series starring Jake Brennan (Dark Skies) as the richest kid in the world.
According to The Wrap, the series will run for 21 episodes, and is based upon the 1980s animated adaptation, which ran between 1980 and 1984. It is being produced by Brian Robbins, Tim Pollock and Jeff Hodsden (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, A.N.T. Farm), and will also star Joshua Carlon, Jenna Ortega, Lauren Taylor, Kiff VandenHeuvel and Brooke Wexler.
This won’t be the first time that Richie Rich has had a live-action adaptation, with Macaulay Culkin starring as the character in the 1994 movie of the same name, which also spawned a 1998 straight-to-video sequel, Richie Rich’s Christmas Wish featuring David Gallagher as the character.
