King Kong origin film Skull Island getting a rewrite

October 31, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Legendary Pictures’ King Kong origin film Skull Island is getting a rewrite, with Deadline revealing that John Gatins (Real Steel, Flight) has signed on to rework the original script from Max Borenstein.

Not much is known about Skull Island at this point, other than it will explore the island home of Kong, and feature other monstrous creatures that inhabit it. Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) is set to direct, with Tom Hiddleston (Thor: The Dark World) set to lead the cast.

Skull Island is set for release on November 4th 2016. Meanwhile, Netflix also has a “futuristic” animated King Kong series in the works entitled Kong – King of the Apes, which is also expected to land that same year.
