The PS4’s Planetside 2 Beta is arriving this year

November 16, 2014 by Tom Powter

Sony Online Entertainment have confirmed that the beta for Planetside 2 remains on track and will be released this year. The company are also aiming for 1080p and 60fps.

Creative Director of the game Matt Higby spoke to Eurogamer, saying that more would be revealed about the game during the Playstation Experience in Las Vegas later this year. While the PC version of the game has nearly been out two years now, Higby says that the time want the game on PS4 to feel like a “full-on console experience”.

“As much as it sounds like we’re blowing smoke, we’re working hard to release a game that feels like a full-on console experience and not just like a port,” he said. “So it’s taken us quite a long time to re-jigger our user interface and our controls. There’s a lot that needs to get done.”

One such change was the Planetside 2 interface, which had to be reworked for the Dualshock 4. Planetside 2 for the PS4 will also include micro transactions.
