Seth Grahame-Smith polishes The Fantastic Four reboot

February 27, 2013 by admin

Last week we heard the news that Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class) had joined the producing team on 20th Century Fox’s The Fantastic Four, and now The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that author and screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith has came on board to polish the script of the upcoming reboot, which is being directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle).

Grahame-Smith is the author behind the likes of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the latter of which he also adapted for the screen, and he was also responsible for penning the script for last year’s big screen adaptation of Dark Shadows. His work on The Fantastic Four will see him polishing a script originally written by up-and-coming scribe Jeremy Slater.

According to THR’s report The Fantastic Four “is taking a grounded superhero and sci-fi approach to the heroes and will tap deep into the comics mythology, which featured not just the better-known villains such as Doctor Doom and Galactus but also alien races the Kree and the Skrull, and the anti-matter universe known as the Negative Zone.” Of course, that’s not to say all of those villains will factor into the reboot, but it seems that Trank is going all out in an effort to wash away the bad taste left by Tim Story’s previous offerings Fantastic Four and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

The Fantastic Four is set for release on March 6th 2015.
