Early in the Sony hack, it was revealed that Marvel Studios had tried to reach a deal with Sony to cameo in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, and now some new details have emerged via Twitter detailing how Marvel wanted to use Spidey in the storyline, as well as revealing that he would have featured in the two-part Avengers: Infinity War.
In an email conversation from November, it is revealed that Sony would have launched a new Spider-Man series following Civil War, which wouldn’t continue the plot from the Captain America sequel but would take place a world where the events had happened and superheroes are divided into two groups.
As for Civil War itself, it would have seen Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) recruiting Spider-Man, who would have met the likes of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Captain America (Chris Evans) before returning back home to Aunt May for his first solo movie.
Meanwhile, Marvel would have also utilised the character in Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 following his relaunched solo outing, with Sony then having to release a second Spider-Man movie in 2019.
