The New York actor best known for his 10 year stint as Ross Geller in Friends has signed on to join the likes of Cuba Gooding Jr. and Sarah Paulson in the new U.S legal drama that will tell the story of O.J. Simpson’s trial for the accused double murder of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman in 1994.
Schwimmer will star as Robert Kardashian, the lawyer who represented Simpson during the trial and also the father of socialites Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian.
American Crime Story is a companion series to FX’s American Horror Story and like it’s predecessor will focus on a particularly different story each season, the first being one of the most infamous celebrity trials in recent years. Following seasons will also focus on notorious true crime cases.
As previously confirmed Cuba Gooding Jr. will play Simpson with Paulson taking on the role of prosecutor Marcia Clark. The show is being developed by Ryan Murphy (Glee) and will reportedly be a 10 parter. Check out the official press release from FX below:
“The miniseries takes a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court…a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.”
