Andrew Newton reviews Zombies vs Robots #1…
Zombies vs Robots #1 from IDW is a new take on the zombie apocalypse theme. Created by Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood, this series brings us a world where humanity has all but been destroyed. This issue brings us 3 stories set in this brilliant and imaginative world.
The main story titled ‘Inherit the Earth’, written by Chris Ryall and with art by Anthony Diecidue, introduces us to our barren world, a world where the remnants of our cities and towns lay empty but for the hordes of zombies. Exploring this world are robots but what will they find and what are their intentions?
Secondly, ‘Tales of ZvR’ is a very short feature of one of Earth’s last remaining humans looking for his father. The artwork by Ashley Wood is very simply done but works tremendously well with the story itself.
Finally, Part 1 of our third story ‘The Orphan’ by Steve Niles and art by Val Mayerik is a lovingly drawn little tale of a small child on her own and trying to avoid the attentions of a patrolling robot. The orphan makes a new friend…..literally.
This is a thoroughly entertaining issue and is a nice take on the current zombie craze. If you like zombies or robots or even both, make sure you get your copy of Zombies vs Robots.
