Back in October, it was revealed that Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Cougar Town) was developing a pilot for a TV series based upon the action buddy comedy franchise Rush Hour, and now it has been announced that CBS has placed a pilot order.
The series will follow a similar plot to the first movie – albeit without Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker – with Entertainment Weekly stating that the pilot will revolve around “a stoic, by-the-book Hong Kong police officer who is assigned to a case in Los Angeles, where he’s forced to work with a cocky African-American LAPD officer who has no interest in a partner.”
As well as Rush Hour, CBS has also placed orders for family man comedy Joe Time, and Super Clyde, which was originally intended to feature Rupert Grint as a fast food worker who comes into money and decides to put it to good use fighting crime. No word if Grint is still involved.
