Freddie Highmore “would love to be considered” for new Spider-Man

March 9, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Since the huge news that Sony and Marvel will be rebooting the Spider-Man series once more to allow for the character’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’ve heard a whole host of names linked to the role of the new wall-crawler.

We recently heard from rumoured front-runner Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner), who denied reports linking him to the film whilst admitting he would be keen to take on the part, and now Bates Motel star Freddie Highmore has thrown his hat into the ring during an interview with IGN:

“Obviously, I would love to be considered. That would be fantastic. I guess we’ll just see how things go. You always feel like you can identify with [Spider-Man]. He’s that kind of guy at school who wasn’t perhaps in the really cool group, but who was extremely intelligent and managed to find confidence in being Spider-Man — in this other side to his life.”

Would you like to see Highmore taking on the role of Peter Parker? Let us know your thoughts…
