Universal Pictures has continued to push forward with its prequel tale to 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman by adding three actors into the mix to form part of the new dwarfs set to feature in The Huntsman.
Similarly to the original film, three British actors have been cast in the roles alongside the returning Nick Frost as Nion. Gavin & Stacey stars Rob Brydon and Sheridan Smith have joined the cast, as has Alexandra Roach who co-starred in 2013’s One Chance.
Cedric Nicolas-Troyan makes his directorial debut with the film, which has Chris Hemsworth (The Hunstman) and Charlize Theron (Ravenna) reprising their roles from the original, joined by Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) and Jessica Chastain (A Most Violent Year).
The prequel is set in the same world as the previous film, but tells a new chapter in the story which focuses on the Huntsman and Ravenna’s lives before Kristen Stewart’s Snow White arrived on the scene.
The Huntsman comes from a script by Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead), with Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part III), Evan Spiliotopoulos (Hercules) and David Koepp (Jurassic Park) turning in earlier drafts.
The Huntsman is set for release in April 2016.
