A few days ago Simon Pegg spoke about his work alongside Doug Jung on the script for Paramount Pictures’ Star Trek 3, stating that the screenplay had to be finished by June “come hell or high water”, and now he’s offered up a few comments on the tone they’re going for on the threequel during a chat with Spinoff Online.
“We just want to take it forward with the spirit of the TV show. And it’s a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that’s where we want to take it, you know. Where no man has gone before – where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a slighter more enlightened generation.”

Star Trek 3 will see Pegg reprising his role as Scotty alongside Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Karl Urban (Bones), John Cho (Sulu) and Anton Yelchin (Chekov), while Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6) will handle directing duties.
