Daredevil is set to kick off the road to The Defenders this month, with the show set to be followed on Netflix by A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Asked by SciFiNow which other Marvel characters he’d like to see joining those on the streaming service, Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight has revealed that he’d like to see Frank Castle – a.k.a. The Punisher – getting the Netflix treatment.
“I’ve been a huge fan of the Punisher comics for years,” states DeKnight.”I’d love to see him get his due on a platform like this. Nothing would delight me more than to see the Punisher get his own show and maybe we could convince Marvel to go Hard-R rating. If any character deserves an R rating, it’s the Punisher.”
As it happens, a Punisher TV series was in development at Marvel a few years ago, but the pilot was cancelled in 2012. However, A.K.A. Jessica Jones suffered a similar fate before being revived for Netflix, so don’t rule out the possibility…
