Last month it was announced that BBC Films is developing a TV drama entitled Grand Theft Auto, which will tell the true life story of the creation of the blockbuster franchise and the ensuing dispute between its creator and a Miami lawyer over video game violence.
According to THR, Daniel Radcliffe is in negotiations to star as Sam Houser, the co-founder and president of Rockstar Grames, who found himself in a series of spats with Florida attorney Jack Thompson, who launched a moral crusade against the video game industry, accusing it – and especially GTA – of glorifying violence. The role of Thompson is yet to be cast.
The Grand Theft Auto movie is set to be directed by Owen Harris, whose credits include Black Mirror and Misfits.
