A crossover between Marvel’s Inhumans and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. sounding unlikely

April 10, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Although ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to introduce the concept of the Inhumans, executive producer Jed Whedon has cast doubt over the possibility of the upcoming Inhumans TV series crossing over with his own show.

“Without being able to say anything really about that show, it will have its own world, just as we tried to start our own world,” Whedon told Digital Spy. “Whether or not there’s a crossover, we will see. Everything is connected, and that’s fun to play with. But the point of our show is to be our show, and we want our fans to be rewarded for watching it without having to watch everything else. But we also want there to be a bigger reward for people who watch all of them, so that they’ll start to see that there’s lines connecting it. It’s more fun for people who are playing the whole game, but if you don’t, you’ll still have a great rollercoaster ride.”

Inhumans will premiere on ABC in September, although the network is yet to renew Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a fifth season amid declining ratings, so talk of a crossover could well be academic at this point.

Inhumans will “explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family”, with the first two episodes of the series is set for a two-week theatrical run in IMAX cinemas, before the full eight episodes air on ABC from September 26th. Featuring in the cast of the series are Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Mike Moh as Triton, Sonya Balmores as Auran, and Ellen Woglom as an unrevealed character.
