Netflix film chief Scott Stuber is giving us another Fear Street, keeping Netflix in the horror business for a bit longer.
At the grand reopening of the American Cinematheque, Stuber tells Collider there’s a new film in the works, and the fourth entry will be a standalone project. With a huge collection of books, the exec says there’s plenty to pull from.
Stuber reveals, “Obviously, there’s a lot of books. There’s one stand-alone that we’re working on right now that we’re once again trying to get the script right, but I like it very much, and so does the team. So I feel like if we can get that script right, there would be a great kind of extension of that franchise.”
Little is known about Fear Street 4, but Stuber reveals the film will be featuring new characters and storylines.
He adds that the streamer is long overdue for a horror icon on par with Chucky or Michael Myers. “If you look at its history, which I love horror, I’d like us to find our own Freddy Krueger, our own Jason, our own kind of iconic horror character, and we haven’t really honed in on that yet. So the team is working hard on that because I think there’s a real opportunity there,” says Stuber.
