According to Deadline, a Jim Henson biopic, titled Muppet Man, is currently in the works at Disney and The Jim Henson Company and will follow the puppeteer’s journey to getting the Muppets onto a cable network.
The outlet is reporting that The Current War and The Giver screenwriter Michael Mitnick is set to pen the script which will be a rewrite of a draft previously penned by writing duo Aaron and Jordan Kandell (Adrift). Henson’s daughter Lisa Henson is producing the film for The Jim Henson Company.
Although the biopic will reportedly focus on the creation of The Muppets, Henson is also known for his work on Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, Labyrinth, The Witches (1990) and The Dark Crystal. Before his death in 1990, Henson also provided the voices for Kermit the Frog, Rowlf the Dog, Doctor Teeth, Waldorf and Swedish Chef.
