Paul Feig is teaming up with a horror icon to scare up some new laughs.
The horror comedy filmmaker will work with Sam Raimi to adapt the 2022 novel Suburban Hell from author Maureen Kilmer. Penning the script is Joanna Calo, known for her work on Bojack Horseman, Hacks, and serving as the co-showrunner and executive producer of FX’s The Bear.
Paul Feig and Laura Fischer are producing for Feigco Entertainment alongside Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert of Ghost House.
Per the novel, the story follows a tight-knit group of suburban moms whose friendship is put to the ultimate test when one of them becomes possessed by an evil spirit.
It could be some time before we see this project, as at the time of writing, there’s no director, cast list, or release date. Details are being kept under wraps about Suburban Hell, but look to see these two long-time producers bring the laughs.
While Sam Raimi is known for his gory masterpiece Evil Dead, the filmmaker has an incredible comedic side. On the flip side, Paul Feig has an impressive comedic resume but also dips into horror comedies like Ghostbusters: Answer the Call and The School for Good and Evil.
